Eichholtz dining table Florence – Silver Travertine

The Florence dining table from the exclusive The Met x Eichholtz collection is a sculptural statement of timeless strength and serene elegance. Crafted from exquisite Silver Travertine, this design translates the clear formal language of medieval architecture into a modern, luxurious piece of furniture for sophisticated dining areas.

The monolithic base, gently rounded edges, and balanced proportions give the table a grounded presence. The natural structure of the travertine creates a vibrant surface, giving each piece a unique character. Florence combines architectural clarity with subtle sophistication and becomes the centerpiece of stylish gatherings.

Historical inspiration

The Florence dining table is inspired by a Catalan column shaft from around 1130–1140, which was in Cuxa Cloister from The Cloisters – in the medieval section of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The original column shaft, made of marble and stone, comes from the Benedictine monastery of Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa in present-day France. Eichholtz takes the calm, minimalist form of this architectural element and reinterprets it as an elegant dining table made of travertine – powerful, timeless, and imbued with historical depth.
