Untreated teak changes color from its initial honey color to silver gray when used outdoors. Our outdoor teak furniture is treated with an environmentally friendly, water-based solution containing silicon vitriol, which gives it the gray color from the start. The treatment gradually fades, the natural patina is highlighted and the piece of furniture then retains its silver-grey, natural colour. In some cases, penetrations of sap and resin from the wood can be seen on the surface. These appear as yellowish spots on the table and are completely normal and will disappear over time.

In 1976, new manufacturing facilities were built in Skene, where Artwood is now located. After Lars Eliasson sold his share in the company to Ingemar Johanson in 1981, Johanson ran the company as a family business until his retirement in 2001. Management of the company then passed to Ingemar's daughter Anna-Carin Bengtsson, who bought out the remaining family members in 2017.
