Eichholtz coffee table Florence – Silver Travertine

The Florence coffee table from the exclusive The Met x Eichholtz collection is a sophisticated composition of stone, symmetry, and timeless design. Crafted from exquisite Silver Travertine, this sculptural piece of furniture embodies the serene power of Romanesque architecture and becomes a striking centerpiece for modern living spaces.

Historical inspiration

The Florence coffee table is inspired by a Catalan column shaft from the early 12th century (c. 1130–1140), which was located in Cuxa Cloister from The Cloisters is located – in the medieval section of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The original column shaft, made of marble and stone, comes from the Benedictine monastery of Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa in present-day France. Eichholtz takes this simple, powerful form and reinterprets it as an elegant travertine coffee table with a sculptural presence.
